Struttin' Starz Dancers
These teams are made up of talented baton twirlers who have passed a rigorous audition and/or been invited by the director to be a member in the group. After proving dedication and hard work, some team members move to "Elite" members and no longer have to audition. They must rehearse during the summer including "clinic" type workshops. Through out the school year, they meet once a week for 1 1/2 hours. The teams are divided by age and ability to be able to perform different routines in different categories at competitions. They compete about 6 times a year, as well as perform in exhibition. Former teams have performed in such locations as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Panama City Beach, FL, televised Bowl Games, Birmingham Barons Baseball, grand openings, The Alabama Chocolate Festival. and more. They can be seen throughout the year at various charity and civic functions as well. Competition wins include area, state, regional and national titles as well as AAU Champions and Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal winners in the Jr. Olympics. We have performed with the "Blues Clues National Promotional Tour". They have received Presidential Physical Fitness awards in Baton Twirling. Our students have been chosen as Majorettes and Featured Twirlers for numerous High School band programs as well as Auburn University, The University of Alabama, UAB, UNA, University of Kentucky, Mississippi State and Troy State Majorettes. Since Baton Twirling has been accepted as a sport by the AAU and Jr. Olympics, many additional doors are opening for baton twirlers. While we love the recognition of competition awards and performances, our true love is the sport of baton twirling. We take pride in the teamwork, dedication and class shown by these young people in everything they do. These teams are available for performance by contacting STRUT, USA at (256) 442-0033.
Struttin' Starz Twirlers
The Starz Dance teams are award winners in every way. These dancers are selected by audition and/or director recommendation for a spot on the team. Once selected, the dancers practice during clinic days in the summer. During the regular season, they practice once a week for 2 hrs. These dancers must be very versatile in that the style may change from year to year according to the choreography. Jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and hip hop styles are used. Body stregnthening is practiced along with stretching, warm ups and cool downs. Our dancers have performed and competed all over the southeast and hold titles in area, state, regional and national competition. They have performed in Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and televised bowl games, The Alabama Chocolate Festival, Birmingham Steeldogs Arena Football Half time Shows, with the "Blues Clues National Tour Promotion" many hospitals, Malls, parades, civic functions, charity events, nursing homes and more. Though performances and competitions are important, we are most proud of the class act that these dance teams display in their everyday style and actions. That is the sign of a true winner.
